Does Anyone Own a Body Camera? Opinions and Recommendations,....

Ideally I'd like to have one that can be located on the dash of my vehicle and quickly detached and carried around my neck or mounted to a chest rig much like law enforcement has.

Over the past couple of years I have witnessed several interactions in traffic, with law enforcement or the public in general,......Essentially "he said she said" situations that could only be sorted out with video and audio proof.

I want one.

Get the highest resolution you can afford. They all will accept micro SD cards so you can pop it out and insert into a computer with a reader.

I personally like the ones that use motion sensors and will record if someone gets close to you car in just about 360 degrees, even when you are away.

All the ones I've seen over write old footage but you can set them to protect say 30 seconds or 2 minutes before the crash (the good ones have crash sensors).

I bought an inexpensive body cam about a year ago (actually got two, one for my brother). It was just an experiment that morphed into part of my everyday outfit. To me, audio pickup and video quality both seem good enough to "do the job".

The model I bought seems to have now disappeared from Amazon, but there are a number of very similar listings for less than $40. Note: I chose a model without a built-in video display, figuring that useful recording time would be longer without that added drain on the battery.

With the shirt buttoned through the lanyard loop as shown in the pictures, I can easily slide the camera through the space between those two buttons to completely conceal it behind the placket. It takes just two fingers and two seconds to retrieve & position the camera for recording.

Is it worthwhile to wear a body cam every day? So far I've never encountered any situation that actually required recording, but it's there if I need it. Since that matches my CCW rationale (and experience to-date, knock on wood), I can only say that the body cam makes sense to me.
