Question : Does the new "virtual CC" option help the situation?
It depends on what you're talking about. VCC #'s generated by your CC company and tied to your main CC doesn't help much. They secure your actual CC #, but charges still link and appear as normal on your CC.

Prepaid VCC's act a bit different. Many are "anonymous" with no link to your actual CC. The down side though is that processing systems can use a variety of verifications so they may not be accepted by all. IE., some use only the number, expiration and security code. Others, the name on the card must be verifiable. Others still, name and a portion of the billing address must match.

They have improved a lot over time though and are increasingly more universally accepted.

Sigh, again are people buying guns from some guy on the corner selling them out of his trunk? Do those who actually buy them from a Dealer really think this is not already tracked?
How many of us have had the local P.D. show up to our door and say something like this. "Your bank called us and said you spent an unusually high amount of money on firearm related stuff. Are you preparing to do something illegal"

If anyone did tell me that I would have to wonder. Seems every time one of these kooks goes off we find out LONG after that they should have known.

You make a fine argument for approving a national registry. :D

If they can find out one thing about you you might as well make it easy and volunteer up all your deets, inventories and monthly financials for public access on the internet.... right!

That sounds a whole lot like the new public policy mentality in Canada. If someone is coming to steal your car... make it easy and leave your key fob out in the open at the front door.:s0140:

Rubbish!!

I'd be more concerned about the black suburbans showing up at 3:00 am and I suddenly go missing without a trace…

Well, now we know what to expect from Washington state's next legislative session.

And since California is now getting away with its 11% tax on firearms and ammunition as well, wow, just can't wait for January 13, 2025 -- it's gonna be a busy 105 days.

People here have been voting blue for a good while. So now they are going to get what they have been asking for. Never met a tax they did not love. The law makers are finally starting to get some push back. So will be interesting to see how it all shakes out this Nov. See if people have had enough yet or if they keep asking for more. :s0092:
