The YouGov survey found 43 percent of respondents said the average American could be trusted with a gun, while 42 percent said they could not. Another 15 percent of respondents said they were not sure.

Gun owners were more likely to say that the average person could be trusted with a firearm, with about 72 percent saying so. Another 17 percent of gun owners said the average person cannot be trusted with a gun, while 12 percent said they were not sure.

How is it useful info? We already know most in govt. don't trust you to have guns. Most democrats don't trust you to have guns. There are some hypocrites that have guns but don't want you to have guns.

These are the same people that wanted to put me in jail during the pandemic because Gasp, I was un"vaxxed". Why doent the Hill do a poll on how many want freedom or who wants to censor free speech because they are doing that too.

They should be more concerned about questioning trusting most Americans to drive properly…… or vote.
Spot on.

But it's just more of the mainstream media promoting the government's, and the liberal anti-gun agenda.

"See? Even ordinary Americans don't want other citizens with those horrible guns around them."
Or procreate.
Also true, but also part of the larger agenda. Government needs the stupid people to procreate; most of these children will not learn anything from their parents (even if they have one or both around) -- they'll learn all they need to know from... our public educational systems.

100%

These are also the same people that made these amazing comments to me, personally, in the last 6 months:

"The IRS should just do our taxes for us" (45 year-old male)
"The DMV should tell people when to put oil in their car" (30 year-old mother of 3)

If there was ever a hypothetical ballot measure to make all firearms illegal everywhere except for law enforcement, probably half the people would vote for it with great enthusiasm.

Guessin' she doesn't have a car with the computer that flashes the message, "Oil at 10%" or "Change engine oil now."

Sadly, this is supported by many polls.

Did the study define what or who the "average" American is?

Then the same study says "that most surveyed Americans believe that gun ownership should be legal in all or most cases."

How does that even compute with the same people who think many cant be trusted with guns?

Where does it say "most?"

Who or what do Americans hold most responsible for gun violence in the U.S.? 65% say they blame gangs and organized crime a lot, 56% place a lot of blame on drugs, and 53% place a lot of blame on mental illness. Other factors which many Americans blame a lot are a decline in morality (49%), leniency in the criminal justice system (49%), bad parenting (47%), and the gun lobby (38%).

The factors which Americans are most likely to say deserve no blame at all are the Second Amendment (45% say they don't blame this at all) and gun manufacturers (43%).
