I think an 1892 Trapper in 44 Mag would be an easy packin thumper.
I have a marlin sporter in .44 and its a sweetheart.

I have this one, never shot or even removed from the box for that matter. It's a Winchester 1892 Deluxe 32-20 that was marketed by Davidson's in 2009 time frame. Pretty gun to look at but may sell or trade at some point as I'm not much of a lever guy.

Of my levers, this is the one that captures my heart the most. Browning 81 BLR stainless takedown in 358 Winchester. Surprisingly accurate and man is it fun to shoot. Till death do we part. Love that gun...

I have the same rifle in .308 - have not shot it much, but it is one of my favorites - going to maybe have the barrel length reduced though.

How short you going to make it? It already is just a 20-inch barrel which makes it very convenient to carry in dense woods and up/down steep hills west of the Cascades (at least with the 358 Win).

16-18" - I like short barrel carbines - all of my lever actions are 16-18" barrels - most are 16"

Not in any hurry to do it. Not sure how hard it would be as I don't think the barrel setup is typical so it may be a hassle for a gunsmith to deal with it. I would probably put a slim muzzle brake/comp on it.

Recently completed my Marlin collection.

Is that Henry the Frontier with the 24" barrel?
Is it Magnum or LR?
