I liked the original B&W movie. They did a remake back in 2008 with Keanu Reeves but I didn't like the remake at all.

Yep excellent classic early sci-fi movie from a great time.

Another from a few years later is 'The forbidden planet'

It was groundbreaking for the time with its special effects. Also it was said that Star trek was inspired by it

I have the 50th anniversary DVD of the forbidden planet. It also includes a miniature Robby the robot figure.

I remember when I was very young (not yet 5 or 6), one of my earliest memories.

I was at my maternal grandparents with my family - the house sat where Washington Square is now.

Anyway, this movie was playing on their TV and I was so scared I ran out of the house.

Yes, it is a good movie.

I name my computers after TV/movie robots:

My MacPro is Gort, my MacBook Air is Klaatu, my Lenovo laptop is Calculon, my smartphone is Bender B Rodriguez.

About 20+ years ago there was a BIG pizza place in Redmond, OR that had a big play areas for the kids, video games AND a lot of movie props, interesting artifacts etc. but one thing was when you walked into the door you were 'greeted' by one of the original 'mockups' of Robby the Robot!
