Greetings all!

I recently bought a Rossi R92 in .357 Magnum.... I wanted to have both a red dot and iron sights on it, so I bought this product from Rossi "Rossi R92 Picatinny Rail w/ Peep Sight" (https://shoprossi.com/rossi-r92-picatinny-rail-w-peep-sight-screws). I removed the original rear buckhorn sights and easily mounted the pic rail with peep sight in their place.

When I took it to the range to sight it in, it shoots so high that I have maxxed out the vertical adjustment on the aftermarket peep sights. It is hitting about 8 inches high at 50 yards, which is where I had hoped to zero it. I have slid the rear peep as low on the sloped back of the pic rail as it will go. I think it's stupid that Rossi sells a product that doesn't align with the factory front sight, but I'm curious if anyone has a recommendation of a taller replacement front sight and knowledge about how I should measure or calculate what height I would need.

For what it's worth, the gun did great with the red dot! I zeroed it at 50 yards and (with one flyer) this is what it looked like at 100 yards, hardly any drop with 170 grain bullets. At 50 yards, 130-grain .38 specials were hitting about 3 inches low.

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Skinner sights has a decent tutorial on their website. I think Brownells does also. You could probably get a taller front sight from either.

Measure the height of your front sight and also the rear with calipers, run your calculations per the skinner or Brownells instructions, and you should be able to figure out how much taller front you need. The folks at skinner are very helpful, give them a call after you have done a bit of calculating and they should be able to get you squared away.

I bought the same rail/peep from Taurus/Rossi in Feb 2024. Set it up on my R92 16" 357 and put a red dot on it. Worked great. Then just recently I went to the range to set up the peep as a backup. Shoots WAY HIGH (8+" at 50 yards) with the rear peep on the lowest possible setting. Contacted Rossi and they said they would have "honored the issue" if I had contacted them within their 30 day return period, which by the way requires the item be unopened! So how would I know it shot high if it was unopened. Rossi knows this, their product for their R92, does not actually work. They have since stopped selling the peep with the rail—they know it doesn't work for the application they sold it for! They now just sell the same rail with the ramp for the peep but they no longer include the actual peep sight! I am going back and forth with them via email now but seem to be getting nowhere. I keep asking if there is a solution but the customer support representative just keeps saying it is beyond the 30 day return window so there is nothing they can do. I am going to attempt to contact them via phone on Monday to see if I can speak to someone who can provide a reason/potential solution since this is the very system on their Triple Black 16" rifle. Curious how this works there—higher front sight, etc.? Customer service at this point looks dismal.

Wow, that is terrible business model/customer service. I haven't had a chance to go back to the range and fool around with mine since the original post, still thinking that I'll have to get a replacement front sight at some point.

I have a ranch hand in 357. Same problem. I drifted out the rear sight and painted the front sight white and the safety tab orange. I stack the white on the orange, and… it works fine now.
Alternatively, either need a taller front sight or a red dot/scope.
