Yes. The lower they re-did 2-3 years ago as I recall. I never went to the upper as it was a bit sketchy.Yeah the upper pit is closed if you're talking about the one I think you are. I'm not sure why they closed it. The sign says insufficient backstop.
The way the road winds up around the back of the pit always made me a bit nervous but I don't think I would have made the call to close it.
You are talking about the pits off of NF-70, correct?

These places you mention, do they have proper backstops? Do you mean that they are all in Greenwater? And, how to find? It's not closed. Some of the pits are closed that have no backstops.
Still a lot of places up there to shoot.
Well, this suck. I am not used to having to pay to shoot. In Pa, the Game Commission supports your shooting habit; your hunting permit is your range permit and there are several to shoot at. Here in WA, memberships to shooting ranges are very pricey - I think about the money i would have to spend just to initiate the application and then the subsequent fees thereafter, that could have been useful ammo money. And now FS 70 is closed in Greenwater, DANG IT!!!!!!!! I did not find it to be unsafe at all.
Care to give a general area as to where this is. I am new to WA on the whole. There are several shooting spots above Wilkeson and Carbonato. You just need to go find the roads.
Thanks!!! Will look into it.
If this is Triangle Pit, it seems I need a Discover Pass.
