Craft stores, of course, have been dyeing for a long time.

Yea... I have to look real closely at the size charts for womens swimsuits and other things. because a lot of times, they're Asian sizing.. means my normally "M-L" wife is a 2XL-3XL on some brands on the flip side, some stores actually now have some brands where "size S" tags actually do fit my wife's M-L size I like the old days where things told you what bust size, what waist size, and/or height/torso length and were reasonably close (allowing for stretch or shrinkage)

BUmping this thread.

I can get sun/swim shirts/rash guards for my kids, and for myself in physical stores,but not so for my wife. The closest are those mesh/lace/sheer "coverup" shirts/dress/robes...View attachment 1905770View attachment 1905771View attachment 1905772View attachment 1905773

Mesh doesn't really protect against sun damage. I think I will have to either order online, go to a surf/swim shop on the coast, or find a men's S swim shirt that she likes

Another.

"Beefy" shirts that are 2+ sizes smaller than tag size and never quite cut right for actual fat people always cut the same as smaller shirts (bigger pecs/shoulders, smaller waist, short torso because they assume you wear pants above belly button at 2XL+ sizes)

Sun protection shirts? Try places that sell fishing gear. Those are big with fishermen/women.

Eh. If she could, she'd never move on from baggy shirts, sweaters and pants, loose boyshorts and snug (but not too tight) sports bras

I see a decent selection at Sportsmans Warehouse if you have one nearby. Columbia PFG is also 50SPF rated and typically oversize

Ahh, gotcha. Those should still work (except the PFG). They are a thin spandex type material like a women's swimsuit with good wicking. I use them all the time, but for fishing.

Another peeve of my wife's, might be TMI for some. "Why are all these sexy outfits only available in thong/"Rio" super cheeky cuts!?"

She hates such bottoms with a passion.

My own? Why is it always the least attractive people who are the most unashamed of their bodies that wears almost nothing!?

To be honest, I have no problem going shirtless when swimming, that's 100% normal and to be expected... its being out of the water, chasing/wrangling a toddler and a kid; and UV being more serious now than last few years it seems... I want a shirt that'll cover most, and can get wet, dry quick, maybe even be useful for swimming at the cooler lakes versus swimming pools.

Trust me on the fishing shirts. Meets all those. While I don't swim with them, I get them wet often. My fishing gloves are the same material. Kayakers use that stuff too.

Downside is they can be pricey for what they are. Not a $10 Walmart t-shirt for sure, but can be had at brick and mortar for $35-65 depending on brand. Of course there are Shanghai knockoffs for $20 online, but that is kinda hit or miss.

A lot of fabrication shops are buying metal or plastic parts because it's cheaper to pay a specialist to make it and ship it to them than to pay an employee to make that same part, especially if you need 10 or more of something. Same concept. Focus on what you do well, farm out the stuff that slows you down if you can.
