We've had this in the family for quite some time.
My grandfather had brought it and a very nice 6.5 Arisaka (unmolested) back from the war.

This one has been a family deer rifle, and uses 30-06.
Nobody really knows what it's chambered in, but it was rumored to be something like an Ackley improved, but I'm not so sure...😅
And it leaves a mark on the brass that tells me the chamber wasn't cut very cleanly...🙄
This also taught me that the rumor that 7.7 Japanese rifles were designed to fire the 30-06, were GREATLY untrue, SADLY SO. 😅

It's a decent gun, but it seems to lose accuracy after just a few shots.
It's badly pitted from living on the coast with my Dad, so I'm thinking of refinishing it...just can't decide on what finsh...🤔

I'd like to restore it some, and possibly load the formed brass using a neck sizer and some .303 bullets to see if i can get it to perform better.
Thanks for looking.
