I got a sporterized Krag today and it has an interesting sight setup. The front sight is a Redfield one, but the rear sight is a…what? I've attached some images. Does it look complete? Or is it missing parts?
It appears to be a old lyman sight setup from the logo on it.
The elevation adjustment screw is broke. Should be a knurled knob like the windage knob on the top were the exposed threads are. Also appears the elevation lock is something someone fabricated. Most likely due to the screw knob being broke off.
If the inside of the sight hole is threaded it should take diopter rings. But could not see threads in the picture so may just be a straight up peep sight. Not a match type sight.
Looks like a nice rifle! There a fun gun to shoot and get alot ofattention when at the range.
