Glock was making knives for the Austrian Army before he was making firearms. According to his biography, Gaston Glock was delivering an invoice to the Army for his knives when he overheard a couple officers talking about the need for a better sidearm for the Austrian troops. The rest is history.
I am really dismayed at the seeming disdain for the Glock Field Knife. I guess we expect different things from our knives, for different reasons.

I have been around a lot of knives in my lifetime. For field use, an M7, a cheap Mora, KaBar, or even this Glock knife oiften trumps a straight-razor-esque knife.
