More and more places do so because people in mass are too often idiots. Sadly everyone else has to pay for the idiots.

I am ok with that as I hear a lot around me normally - as long as proper backstops are used.

Heck I usually let a few .58 cal ML shots ring out on the 4th - but with damp TP as my 'ammo' - no lead.

Most definitely, I'm in the city so it's less good clean gun fun and more drunks shooting into the air. Totally ok with gun shot noises if I know I'm out in an area where that's normal.
