Built for the wife with easily less than 500 rounds through it. She decided she liked shooting from the bench better, so I built her an almost identical 18" upper.
Slick side upper with the lightest 10.5" barrel I could find. It's an ODIN Works ULTRAlite stainless barrel (15.5oz) in .223 Wylde with an SLR Sentry 7 Titanium adjustable gas block. It has a Unique ARs 9" Filigree handguard with a full length picatinny rail. The rail is removable and can be put on top or bottom and they have smaller sections that can be used if desired.
It's a 1:8 twist and although it loves 62 grain ammo, it likes 55 grain just fine.
If you are unfamiliar with .223 Wylde, it will shoot 5.56 and .223 Remington both. It is just a tighter chamber than 5.56 to aid in better accuracy. Basically, it is an updated improvement in tolerances from when 5.56 was developed in the '60s. If you have a choice between 5.56 and .223 Wylde, unless you're going to be in the mud a lot, choose .223 Wylde.
