Never ran a cb before but I've had some Midland GXT1000's for years that have crazy good range even in the woods and mountains and are still working just fine. This Midland CB I just got is pretty spot on and the antenna isn't tuned yet! Midland seems to be one of those brand names that still produces quality. Got four radio checks today at different times and all were loud and clear. Now I've just got to put these external speakers in and possibly relocate the antenna and all set to go. Heading out to West Virginia soon so wanna be prepared.Back in the early/mid 70's during the crazy CB days, I ran two 102INCH steel whips on my pickup. The Midland radio performed double duty as a base station late at nite. The D104 mic overmodulated but nobody care except the near by truckers. LOL
Had a blast with that ole Midland. You cant go wrong with one.
Just my 2cents..
