I swung by Cabelas gun room on Saturday and found a Savage 99E, .308, made in 1967 with a Nikon scope for… $99! The stock had been cut down for a kid and it has seen lots of use. I figured with a $150 scope the rifle was free. My grandpa born in 1899 carried one in his saddle scabbard when he worked on a ranch in the Dakotas. Said it was his favorite rifle. I will fix this one up and it will be carried by my grandkids ages 12-1, 9 of them. I'll teach my 12 year old how to reload reduced loads as a fun project together . I'll post progress along the way.
