Anyone know if the "long range" is still accessible and usable or is it part that is blocked off? (The 200 yard range right at the coordinates listed above)
Thanks
I own two Springfield pistols a xdm 40 and a xd mod2. My question is would you be able to push the rear sight over to the right about 2mm? ever since I broke my navicular bone in my right hand I shoot to the left. Before my Ruger Mark two target model was stolen it had adjustable rear sight so I moved it over to the right a tad and that made up for my shooting to the left so I'd like to do that with my Springfields. Thank Brian O

Awesome would I have leave my pistols there for a few days or can I just come by Saturday and you can move the rear sight over while I wait? And what would your charge be for doing that?
Just adjusting a sight? No need to charge you. Take old sights off and new sights on that you purchased elsewhere would be fee worthy, new sights from me, no fee to install/adjust. We can do it while you wait, but the next few weekends I will be away at gun shows.
What is the shooting protocol at these ranges? I have only shot at controlled ranges, not public land free for all. I have watched a few folks shooting at Browns Camp when I was dirt bike riding, and it seemed like a bubblegum show.
My questions are: If someone else is shooting at lane, can I just join in? How many shooters will a lane hold? What is the frequency for going cold on the lane to swap targets? Anything else?
You may get more responses posting this question in the main thread...500 characters.
First come first served at the lanes.
However we've asked if it was OK to join some folks & likewise have been asked.
Coopers 4 rules always apply when handling firearms, and I have had to politely as well as command voice correct some folks.
Carry out what you carry in. No shooting "trash", just targets & nothing explosive. Steel ban may still be in order uomthat way (dunno if it's wet up there yet).
Heya Velzy...... I have two AR barrels I need F marked front side posts pinned on. I'm in no hurry for them. They've been sitting here forever. Can you do this and if so how much would you charge for that?
Wanted to teach a couple of new shooters firearm safety, how to load, unload, shoot, etc.
Is North Fork open? I was just driving past Mt.Hood national forest, saw some no-shooting signs.
Do the fire-related closures around Oregon affect this place?
Thanks Reno911!
Where can I find renovation/cleanup times, if possible? I was wanting to go tomorrow.
Do the fire closures not affect this range?

The discussion thread is the best place to check. Or ODFs website. Myself and cogs try to keep everyone updated on this website. Trashnoland.org would also be a good site to keep track of for updates.
The fire risks are very real for Tillamook State Forest, but the Federal fire restrictions do not effect state forests.
Thank you so much, Reno911!
I'll make sure to take along a fire extinguisher and shovel, just in case. And we'll keep a super watchful eye out, to be sure.
There was a nice gravel pit off of Blodgett Rd between Waldport and Yachats where I used to go shooting. It was taken back over by the county or state road crews and can no longer be used as a range. Does anyone know a place near Waldport to shoot?
Lane 1 is roughly 15 yards to the berm.
Lane 2 is roughly 20 yards to the berm.
Lane 3 started out at 60 yards to the long berm and 15 to the short.
Lane 4 started out at 75/80 yards to the long berm and 15 to the short.
These have slightly changed due to the berms and backstops deterioration and materials grading on their own over time.
Within the last week Warehouser Company has installed a full width pipe gate that blocks access to The road beyond the cattle crossing which is just past Camp Dakota. There is no access to either of the two old logging Yarder spots that have been used for years as target practice "Ranges" and I use the term "Range" lightly as people have not been cleaning up, for sometime, pop and beer cans blown to sharp bits all over clay pidgins broken and landing every place, well over 1000lbs of shell casings everything from 22 to 308, it has just been turned into a dump, and is or was quite dangerus to take young people up to teach fireams safety and use. About a Day before the gate went up, about half of my Town Scotts Mills went up with trash bags, buckets rakes shovels and hauled off several pickup loads of just garbadge, closes, diapers, cans food, pop and beer cans car parts, you name it we hauled if off. Then the logging company came in and put a huge gate across the road with no public notice to us or any one else
With the ODFW posting absolutely no burning of camp fires in the area, I wonder how the company will feel if a lighting strike hits and the Fire crew has to cut the gate down just to get up the damn mountain to save it and us just below.
I understand installing a gate if number one the company has the legal right to do without public opinion, but if it is BLM or Public land.. well remember Malheur County Oregon and the Bundys?
Hey ya'll. I'm a newbie here so please excuse and dumb or repetitive questions. I tried reading through most of this thread to get the info that I need. It seems like this is a decent spot outside PDX to go plinking. My main question is, would this be a place I could take my wife and my nephews? I've been to some spots in Washington that are well maintained with great people but I've also encountered other spots where I was rather uncomfortable with the people there and the way they were shooting. I realize these things are very hit or miss but just looking for your personal opinion. Also, will I be able to reach this with a front wheel drive car like a civic? We are lucky to have organizations like these to help keep these sites open. Next time there is a clean up, I am in for sure if yall need me. Thanks in advance!
Perfect spot to bring family. FWD should be fine to access the lanes. The road is overdue for grading, IE there are some pot holes, but not that bad. Have fun!
Oh, and keep you eyes out for a TNL clean up on the 25th.
To me its a great spot to go. Depending on what your plans are, I recommend going early in the day as the place does get packed. lanes 3 and 4 are very popular due to the distance of them. As far as taking the Fam yes. I have taken my wife, kids, and sometimes my dad when he visits there plenty of times and they all have fun. Just make sure you take some water, hand sanitizer, and snacks depending on how long you are going to be there because kids complain alot when they are hungry and thirsty, also sun screen as well.
No, I don't think the range is closed. I was up there a week or so ago and was able to shoot.

These lanes are open year round. Access is only limited on occasion for cleaning or renovation etc. Best way to know is to check the current page on the discussion portion of this thread. Also a good source for info is here:
I have a savage 99 in 300 savage. This is a standard non takedown rifle that I would like rebarrled in 6.5 creedmoor. I would like a quality barrel fitted to the savage and the action tuned to this cartridge. Can you give me a choice of barrels and the cost for this service. I also have a browning 81 blr in 308 rebarreled to same 6.5 creedmore. Barrel choices and prices? Thanks, George
I have recently acquired an FEG high power clone. Some has tried their hand at Cerro coating and decided that is not there thing. I would like to have this gun stripped and re Cerro coated.
Can you do this and what is a guess on cost ?
Thanks
Skidder
Has anyone gone up to crooked finger recently? Looking to take a few guns up and teach my son. The last post here was in January. Is it open or closed?
